Before you join

Questions worth settling first.

What a community costs, who you are actually paying, cancelling, live classes, and what happens to your progress — answered in full rather than hidden behind a click.

If you are joining a community

  • What does it cost?

The creator sets the price of their own community, and many run a free tier that is worth joining on its own. Ligarium never charges a member anything on top — there is no platform fee added to what you see.

  • Who am I actually paying?

The creator. The charge is made on their own Stripe account, in their name, and it appears on your statement that way. Ligarium takes a share from the creator's side of that payment, not from yours.

  • Can I cancel?

From your own settings, at any time, without asking anybody. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for, and nothing renews after that.

  • What happens to my progress?

It is kept per community: where you stopped in each lesson, what you have finished, and the points and level you have earned. Rejoining later picks up where you left off.

  • Do I need a separate account for each community?

No. One account, and you can be in as many communities as you like. Your level is tracked separately in each, since it is earned there.

  • What if I miss a live class?

Live classes run on the creator's own Zoom or Meet room. If you say you are coming you get a reminder the day before and again at the hour. Creators often upload the recording into the classroom afterwards, though that is up to them.

  • Will you email me a lot?

No. A reply to something you wrote, a reminder for a class you said you would attend, and — if you drift away part-way through a course — one note about that specific lesson. There is no newsletter.

  • How do levels work?

You earn points for posting, for replies, for likes your posts receive, and for finishing lessons. Levels follow from the total, and creators can put material behind a level. A quiet month never costs you a level: it is your all-time total that counts.

If you are thinking of running one

  • What does Ligarium charge a creator?

A share of what members pay — no monthly fee, and nothing at all in a month where nobody pays. The whole schedule is on the creators page, including the point at which a flat fee would have been cheaper.

  • Can I bring a community across from somewhere else?

Yes. Members, courses, posts and points, with members keeping the level they earned. The one thing nobody can move is a subscription — Stripe cannot transfer them between accounts, so members re-authorise.
